We are making some changes to our staff. We are welcoming Ms.
Destany to our Infant and Toddler Community. Ms. Brittney will continue to
support the classroom but will primarily work in the office going forward. We
are making these changes to ensure that there is office staff available to
answer your questions and concerns during Office Hours.
The 2017 Spring Sing will be held at Lincoln Avenue Community
Church located at 1511 Lincoln Avenue in Pomona, CA on Friday, May 19th at 6
p.m. Please note that this day is a minimum day so that the children can go
home and change, eat and be ready to perform for you. We will close at 2:30

regarding the desired attire needed for the performance. Children should arrive
at the venue by 5:30 p.m. to be ready to start promptly at 6 p.m. We will also
be having an International Pot Luck directly after in the reception hall. We
are asking that each family bring 8 –12 servings of their favorite main dish,
side or dessert that represents your families’ heritage. Tickets will be
available prior to the event for $2 or $3 at the door. We hope to see you
there!
All classes will be holding their Mother’s Day Events on Monday,
May 15th. You
will receive an invitation from your child with details of the event which is
specific to each class. Please save the date to stop by and spend a little time
with your child so they can honor and serve you on this day.
On Monday, we opened registration to the public on a first-come,
first-serve basis. Please remember to return your Registration Form to the
office along with any applicable fee as soon as possible so that we can
guarantee a spot in the Summer Session and/or Academic School Year for your
child. Our summer theme this year is Animal Adventures. We are currently working on
booking our field trips and will have our schedule complete by the end of next
week so that you can have more information about what our program will offer.
Remember that our summer program includes continued academic work within the
Montessori curriculum.
We are just a month and a half away from the end of the 2016-2017
School Year, can’t believe we are really that close! I would like to take a
moment to recognize the efforts of the Parent-Teacher Committee this school
year. Thank you Ms. Brittney, Ms. Kris, Tara, Paige, Caren, and Ellie for the
events you organized including the Harvest Festival and Casino Night, along
with the funds you raised for our children this school year. I am so glad to
see this committee take shape the way I had always hoped. The PTC is open to
any parent or teacher who would like to give their feed back and lend their
talents to the school community, or just hang out and get to know others in the
MAU community. We hope to see you there!
Thank you parents for your continued support of the school and
your children, “it takes a village”. We are thankful for our wonderful staff
and are proud of the accomplishments of our students. It has been a wonderful
year as we have nearly doubled our student body due in large part to the good
word you are sharing about us with your friends and family.
With many thanks,
Adam Thewes, Administrator

Valentine's Day Festivities
Dear Parents,
Reminder that tomorrow we will be having our Valentine's Day parties. For Children's House, the children are encouraged to bring in cards for their classmates with only their name in the "To" seciton and no specific name in the "From" section so that it is easier to hand out during our exchange. Infants and Toddlers are to bring in a wrapped stuffed animal for the child that they picked to exchange with. If you have any questions please contact the office.
Have a great day!

Montessori Academy of Upland will host Journey & Discovery, a hands-on seminar that lets you explore the Montessori curriculum from 6 weeks through Kindergarten.
The day starts with a Journey through the classrooms to get a feel for the Montessori prepared educational environment. Parents will then split into the classroom/s of their choice to discover the curriculum through hands on learning and an opportunity to talk with teachers at all levels about what happens in the classroom each day. The journey ends with a light lunch and discussion.
We are excited to be able to offer this experience to our parents and others who are interested in discovering new educational options for their child. By experiencing what your child does each day, and what work he or she will do at the next level, you’ll get a full understanding of the value of a Montessori education and whether this is the right educational choice for your child.
Space is limited but still available at this time. Make your reservation today.
Sincerely,
Adam Thewes

October 12th PTC Meeting Notes
Parent Teacher Committee Meeting Agenda
October 12th
Attendees: Ms. Brittney, Ms. Kris, Tara Stone, Paige Brophy, and Caren Torrente
- Recap
- Pizza Night (The turn out was great at the pizza night. We still do not know how much money we have raised. We will keep you updated when we know. (Update:$194.46 raised)
- Year Long Fundraisers
- Box Tops (Paige looked into the bonus box tops. You can download an app on your phone for bonus box tops. You have to register and select our school and then you scan your receipts when you go to the grocery store and additional box tops will be given to the school. If you have a chance download the app.)
- Labels for Education (Paige looked into this and labels for education is ending indefinitely. All submissions have to be submitted by the end of the year so that we can get the money.)
- Scholastic Reading Club (Thanks to all the parents who bought books. We surpassed the minimum order to get the extra bonus points. We have already gotten books for the classrooms and there will be many more added to the classrooms.)
- T-Shirts (There have been major struggles with the printing company that was used to print our shirts. The field trip shirts have finally come in, but we are still waiting on the arrival of the additional shirts that will be sold. We have currently spent $747.78 on the shirts and now we are just waiting for the incoming shirts. There will be only slight profit on the children’s shirts as they charged us $7.25 a shirt and we will be selling them for $10. The adult shirts cost $8.50 a piece and we will be selling them for $15 and the polo shirts cost $10 a piece and will be sold for $20. We will be looking into a new company for the next order)
- Current Balance $252.22
- Up Coming Events
- Harvest Festival (October 22nd)
- Food
- Taco man (Tara has been coordinating with the taco service. They will be charging us $6 a person. We have asked for food for 100 people. We are going to limit the amount of food to 2 tacos per adult and one taco or one quesadilla per kid which will be served with rice and beans, salsa, chips and fruit. This will allow us to profit on the cost of the food and not have a lot of left over food.)
- Donations (We are in need of some raffle prizes. If you can get out to local businesses and ask for a donation or are willing to donate raffle prizes yourself that would be great.)
- Games
- Picking Carnival Games (We discussed games at the meeting and the following carnival games were chosen: Fishing, Spooky Golf, Knocking cans, Ring Toss, Pumpkin bean bag Toss, Candy Corn bean bag Toss, Apple Stacking, Bookmark making, Face Painting, scavenger hunt booth)
